"Entertainment–education typically provides characters who can serve as positive, negative, or transitional models. Positive models engage in the desired behavior (e.g., family planning, literacy training, use of a designated driver while drinking) and gain benefits as a result; negative characters fail to take the recommended actions and experience bad outcomes. Transitional characters may be resistant to the recommendations at first, but then are converted and triumph through choosing the right path. When individuals identify with these characters, they are motivated to make changes in their own attitudes and behaviors" (Singhal et al., 2003). via Jedediah Walls, Media Psychologist http://www.facebook.com/pages/p/375155975925633
